The PlayBook can share a compatible Smartphone's celullar connection to the Internet via Bluetooth, such as a BlackBerry Smartphone. NOTE - when accessing the Internet via your phone you may incur significant data charges so you should check with your operator what your current tariff permits in terms of data volumes.
To set up the connection, you must first pair your PlayBook with your Smartphone via Bluetooth. To do this, launch the Settings view on the PlayBook by tapping on the icon of the cog in the top right hand corner of the screen. Select Bluetooth:

Ensure that Bluetooth is turned On and select the option to Add New Device.

Select the option to Search. The PlayBook will search for available devices in range and display a list of those devices it can detect. Ensure that your Smartphone is set to be Discoverable:

Tap on the entry for your phone:

A Bluetooth pairing code will be displayed on the PlayBook. Ensure that this code matches that displayed on the Smartphone. If prompted to enter a code on the Smartphone, enter the code displayed on the PlayBook:

The Bluetooth pairing process is now complete. On the PlayBook now browse to Internet Tethering in the Settings menu:

Select the entry for your phone:

Tap on the entry for your phone again. As this is the first time you are connecting to the phone, you will need to define the connection parameters for the Internet connection:

The PlayBook has the settings for most global network operators pre-defined. Typing in the name of your operator and selecting Search should return a profile with the required settings already entered. Should you wish to complete the profile manually (to connect to an unlisted or private network) select the option to Add Profile:

Enter in the required information for your network operator. For reference, the settings for the UK operators are as follows:
Vodafone
Orange
O2
T-Mobile
Three
Once the required information has been entered, select the option to Connect:

You will be warned that tethering your device may result in additional charges from your operator. If you are comfortable click Continue to initiate the connection.
The PlayBook will now try to connect to the Internet via Bluetooth through your Smartphone. The Smartphone may prompt you to accept the incoming Bluetooth connection, if so, accept the connection. After a few moments your PlayBook will be connected to the Internet:
