The X1 is the newest member of the GlobeSurfer family of wireless 3G routers, and essentially enables you to use your USB 3G Modem as a wireless access point:

Features
Installation & Configuration
The X1 could not be simpler to configure. No additional software is required; simply connect to the device via the Ethernet port and open a web browser.
By default the XI will have an IP address of 192.168.1.1 and the built-in DHCP server is enabled, so once you have connected to the unit and your PC has been assigned an IP address, within your web browser connect to http://192.168.1.1
You will be prompted to log into the unit, by default both the username and password are 'admin'. The following window will be displayed:

Select the option to run through the configuration Wizard:

Click Next:

Select your desired language and time zone and click Next:

Select whether your wish to use the device as a 3G modem, or a wireless extension of your DSL modem (in this example I am using the X1 as a 3G modem). Click Next:

Enter the APN (Access Point Name) details of your cellular provider's 3G service:
Vodafone - internet
Orange - orangeinternet
O2 - mobile.o2.co.uk
T-Mobile - general.t-mobile.uk
Three - three.co.uk
BT Mobile - btmobile.bt.com
Click Next:

Enter the desired wireless SSID you wish the device to have as well as an wireless encryption settings. Click Finish, the device has now been configured:

You can now connect your USB 3G modem to the X1, which will attempt to initiate a connection to the Internet based on the settings you provided.
Clicking on the Advanced Mode link at the top of the screen provides access to the X1's firewall, router and administration tools, enabling you to configure additional user accounts, parental controls, port and IP forwarding settings, etc:

The X1 also has an SMS Manager application that enables you to manage the text messages stored on the SIM card within your USB Modem:

Compatible devices
At the time of writing, the X1 has been successfully tested with the following devices:
Option
Huawei
Sierra Wireless
Ericsson
ZTE
Alcatel
BandLuxe
CMotech
