The Sensation XE features the same Beats Audio soundstage as the Sensation XE, which when used with the bundled Beats in ear 'phones provides a superior immersive aural experience.
The HTC Music Player software provides all you could require from a portable music device, including the ability to create and organise playlists as well as set tracks as your ringtone

The HTC Watch software allows you to purchase and stream a wide range of movies, from the latest releases to classics, all of which are rendered beautifully on the XL's hugely impressive screen and Beats audio sound, meaning that you truly can carry the cinema in your pocket.

Movies can also be streamed wirelessly to a DLNA-capable television using the XL's media streaming feature.

The 8 megapixel rear camera with auto focus and dual LED flash allows you to capture life's moments on the fly and share your pictures online, geo-tagged for reference. A wide range of image processing effects and capture modes are available, including the ability to capture a burst of photographs in rapid succession for action shots, or panoramas

Email

The Sensation XL supports a wide range of email services. The settings for a number of common email providers are already programmed, meaning that setting up your Google or Hotmail email is simply a matter of entering your email address and password: the XL will do the rest.

Multiple email accounts can be configured and displayed in a single view, coded by colour.
Microsoft Exchange-based email accounts can also be configured, enabling you to receive push-based updates to your email, contacts, calendar and tasks folders

All mailbox folders are available

and entries from the Global Address List will be suggested automatically when you start to compose a new email message:

Out of Office status and reply message can be set and edited directly from the device

and synchronisation can be scheduled separately during and outside peak working hours, to preserve battery life and data usage outside those hours when updates need not necessarily be pushed to the device

Tasks are managed via the separate Tasks application

Connectivity

The Sensation XL can be used as a portable WiFi access point, enabling you to share the XL's high-speed cellular connection to the Internet from up to 5 wireless clients, be it a laptop, another mobile phone, or whatever. The wireless connection can be encrypted for additional security.

The networking settings used by the wireless hotspot can be defined if desired by advanced users

Files can also be exchanged with the Sensation XL via Bluetooth

Via USB, the Sensation XL can share its Internet connection (it can be "tethered") on both Windows and MacOS

and on Windows can be used in "Internet Passthrough" mode, allowing you to use your PC's Internet connection from the Sensation XL.

Music, Photos, Contacts, Calendars, Documents and Bookmarks can also be synchronised with both Windows and MacOS using the HTC Sync software.

The Polaris Office software on the Sensation XL allows you to view, edit and create both Word and Excel documents, as well as view PowerPoint presentations

The Usage Monitor allows you to keep approximate track of the amount of data used as well as voice minutes and text messages, to help you stay on top of your mobile charges
