The Explorer is HTC's entry-level Android model aimed at the budget end of the Smartphone market. Running the latest version of HTC's Sense Android "skin" it provides a streamlined user interface with all of your important updates and applications available directly from the lock screen, but featuring only limited hardware specs. The Explorer could be ideal as a "second" phone for holidays, camping trips, sporting events, etc.
View this article for a number of product videos showcasing the Explorer's key features.

Running HTC Sense 3.5, the Explorer allows you to keep all of your messages, social networking updates, music controls and more all on your home screen and right at your fingertips.
Swiping to the left or right of the main home screen provides additional home screens on which you can add a wide range of application shortcuts, hardware controls, contacts, widgets for easy access

Additional widgets can be downloaded from the Internet

Notifications, running programs and hardware controls can all be accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen within any application:

The list of applications that comes preinstalled on the Explorer is as follows:

The Explorer supports the POP and IMAP email standards, recognising a number of common email providers automatically making setting up your email a simple matter of just entering your email address and password.
Exchange email accounts are also supported, enabling you to synchronise email, contacts and calendar with a Microsoft Exchange server:

Multiple email accounts can be configured, and displayed at a glance in a single unified Inbox, coded by colour. All mailbox folders can also be viewed:

Addresses in the Global Address List will be returned automatically as you compose new email messages:

Out of office status and response message can also be set from the device:

Message and attachment size limits can be defined for the data conscious, and synchronisation schedules can be defined so that updates are not pushed to the device outside of peak hours:

The Explorer can be used as a portable WiFi hotspot, enabling you to connect up to 5 WiFi-capable devices simultaneously and share the device's high-speed 3G cellular connection to the Internet. Connections can be encrypted for security.

The Explorer can further be used as a USB modem on Windows and Mac, or can share the Internet connection of a Windows or Mac PC when connected via USB in Internet Passthrough mode.

Additionally the Explorer can also be set up as a wireless extension of your office SIP-based IP telephone system, so you can make calls to members of the office while on site for free without racking up call charges or needing to be at your desk - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/setting-htc-desire-s-wireless-extension-...

The Quick Lookup tool allows you to search a number of online resources simultaneously, including Google, YouTube, Wikipedia and Translate

The Task Manager provides at-a-glance information on how much memory is currently free on your device as well as what programs are running, and the ability to quickly close down unneeded programs:

The Usage Monitor provides information on how much data has been sent and received by the unit, time spent on voice calls and text messages sent, enabling you to keep track of charges incurred:
